| Get ready for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart at Cannes Film Festival
In case you've been living under a rock and haven't yet heard, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be heading to this year's Cannes Film Festival to support their own films Cosmopolis and On The Road, each of which are in competition for the coveted festival prize, the Palme d'Or.
Pattinson has been to Cannes before, though not in competition. In 2009, he attended the festival to support distribution sales for his movie Remember Me, and he also enjoyed a film screening and participated in a charity event while there.
According to the official Cannes calendar, Stewart's On The Road (directed by Walter Salles# will screen on Wednesday, May 23rd, while Pattinson's Cosmopolis #directed by David Cronenberg# will debut on Friday, May 25th.
Stewart has said #in the attached video interview with MTV) that she'll be seeing Cosmopolis for the first time during the Cannes screening and that she's "dying to see it." She also admitted that there exists a bit of healthy competition between the two going into Cannes. "Definitely, if it was us or them I think we’d take the cake," she joked.
Both Cosmopolis and On The Road will present edgier roles than fans might be used to seeing Pattinson and Stewart in, but that fact is already helping to push them forward from the Twilight platform and into the future of their respective careers.
So, for the next few weeks, expect to hear a lot about these two films and stars!
UPDATE: According to Deadline, there'll be several other Twilight cast films up for distribution sales at Cannes, including Taylor Lautner's Tracers, Pattinson's Mission: Blacklist, and Kristen Stewart's Cali. Keep an eye out for news on those subjects as well
